Nozzle Filling Compound (NFC)
Free-opening compound for ladle SEN
A granular chromite–silica based compound used to fill the nozzle bore of the ladle prior to teeming. Designed for consistent free opening at the caster without oxygen lancing.
Built for consistent service.
Blended from carefully sized chromite, silica and carbonaceous additives to produce a compound that sinters only at the steel-contact face — preserving a free-flowing lower layer that runs out cleanly when the slide gate opens. Sizing is critical: we control fines and coarse fractions batch to batch.

- Ladle to tundish free opening
- All induction and EAF steel grades
- Slab, bloom and billet casting
- High free-opening rate — reduced oxygen lancing
- Consistent sintering behaviour heat to heat
- Controlled sizing minimises steel contamination
- Low moisture pickup — stable in monsoon storage
Keep bags sealed and off the ground. Once opened, use within 24 hours. Do not pre-mix with any other compound. Fill the nozzle bore to the recommended level indicated in your caster SOP.
